We’ve all heard about the hero who runs into a burning building to save a screaming woman and her child. It’s a trope of television and movies, but that doesn’t mean that it never happens in real life.
Most of the time, however, the hero rushes in to save a person and search for survivors. But what about if the only ones in danger were animals?
Such was the case in New Jersey when a fire broke out at a local pet store. The first one on the scene was Officer Raphael Burgos, a veteran of the force with over twenty years of being on the job.
Without hesitation, he ran into the store. Initially, it was to see if anyone was still inside. However, it quickly became apparent that only the pets were in any mortal danger. Knowing exactly what to do, Burgos started grabbing animals and taking them away from the dangerous flames.
In all, he managed to save every pet in the store, despite battling a raging inferno and suffering damage to himself in the form of slight burns and smoke inhalation. As far as the animals were concerned, however, they were okay, if a bit rattled.
The pets went to a local vet while Burgos went to the hospital. Everyone involved wound up making a full recovery, which means that this story has a bonafide happy ending. We salute you, Officer Burgos.Source: Shared
