How Can You Tell Your Dog Loves You? Let’s Count The Ways

By Caitlyn Gomez Dec 6, 2016

Dogs show love for their humans in several ways. Even though dogs can’t speak verbally in the same ways that humans express affection, a pooch’s actions speak louder than a bark. Dog owners know what a happy tail wag looks like, but there are other ways your furry companion may express love for you.
Let's take a look.

1. Yawning

Believe it or not, a dog yawning at the same time you do is a way to express empathy for your situation. If you feel tired, your dog may yawn along with you to show you he cares.

2. Staring

In “Tangled,” Eugene called his stare “The Smolder.” Dogs have the same thing. When they stare into your soul, dogs express love that can only come from a look of trust.

3. Shadowing

When your dog follows everywhere you go, it’s a sign of respect and deference that you’re the head of the pack. Your devoted dog looks up to your leadership and wants to spend time with you.

4. Greeting

One obvious show of love occurs when you walk in the door from work. Your dog excitedly waits by the door, prancing back and forth and whimpering until you get in the door. Once you open the gateway, get ready for leaps, barks and licks.

5. Cuddling

Cuddling on the couch is always a sign of love and affection, whether you have this with a human or a furball.
