Meet Stella, a cat born with micro-ophthalmia, or small eyes. Stella’s eyes were so small, she was blind. Nikki Martinez found Stella and her two siblings on a trap-neuter-return (TNR) project, and all three of the kittens had sight issues. All three feral kittens were fearful of humans at first because they had never had any contact with people.
The kittens were four months old, and Martinez didn’t have the heart to return them back to their homes in the unforgiving outdoors. All three feral kittens now had a good home. Martinez already fosters cats before finding them forever homes, but these three special siblings now belong to her on a full-time basis.

To get Stella to come around, the people in the house fed her chicken baby food so she could discover that humans aren’t so bad after all.
After two weeks, Stella came around and started acting more friendly to the rest of the cats living with Martinez. She needed surgery to remove her eyes, and vets sewed her eyelids shut to keep out any debris from her empty eye sockets.
