The experts there cared for Tommy for a month. They gave him antibiotics, pain medications and regularly changed sugar bandages to help his wounds heal as naturally as possible. A surgeon grafted skin to his wounds to help it heal further. The sanctuary received donations to help this brave soldier come back from his near-death experience.
All the while, Tommy licked and kissed the people who helped bring him back to health. Although he can’t get his eye back, Tommy did show that he’s worthy of love just as much as any other cat. Despite the first vet’s opinion that the kitty should be euthanized, he now resides in a foster home where he continues to recover. The sanctuary set up a GoFundMe account that raised $11,720 out of a $10,000 goal for his health needs.

The worst part of Tommy’s ordeal was that he lost his trust in humans. Throughout his healing, the kitty continues to regain his trust in humans. Eventually, Tommy may get his forever home. Does anyone want a brave cat to add to the family? His hobbies include flipping pens off of tables, sleeping and doing household chores. Nearly two months after his traumatic experience, Tommy is doing great and is waiting for a furr-ever home! He’s just one of many brave pets who would love to fit into your home.
