Jon Stewart's retirement to a life of farming surprised many fans, but he and his wife Tracey's dream of expanding their sanctuary just received a green light from local authorities.
The planning board for the township of Colts Neck, New Jersey, unanimously approvedĀ the Stewarts' plan to repurpose a 45-acre farm into an animal rescue and education facility earlier this week.

The original application that launched the process was filed back in April of 2016, but was delayed as the couple worked to address community concerns about noise and traffic.

"So much of the project is about community. So you want to the community that you are invested in to want you to be there and to be invested in it as well," Jon said during the township meeting Tuesday. "You want it to be mutual love, not unrequited love."
